Why do flippable seats matter?

Because if Democrats had a supermajority, or two-thirds control of the House and Senate, they could send constitutional amendments to the ballot without needing Republican votes.

What this could mean: school bonds currently require 60% voter approval, which is difficult to achieve and higher than most states. We could fix that with a constitutional amendment. Many folks would also like abortion protections codified, another move that takes a constitutional amendment. A supermajority makes this and more a possibility.
